YDAN is launching a free new community leadership program for LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent young people aged 18 to 25.
The goal of the program is for young disabled people to be equipped with the tools and skills to build their confidence in self-advocacy and leadership, so that they can shine as leaders in their local communities.
This project is being delivered in consortium with Children and Young People with Disability Australia, who are running a National Leaders Program, alongside other partner organizations Enabled Youth Disability Network (South Australia) and the Youth Disability Advisory Service (Victoria).
What is involved?
The Community Leadership Program helps young people develop their leadership skills and learn practical strategies to take the next step in their leadership journey.
There will be frequent face-to-face workshops from May to December 2026.
It will focus on five main topics including:
- Building leadership foundations
- Leadership in context
- Leadership challenges
- Our Community Ecosystem
- Tools for Leaders
